  5. What was your first job?
    A waitress when I was 17.


  6. What inspired you to choose this particular career?
    I always enjoyed legal studies at school, but chose a different path initially. I did Media Studies at University and decided I needed a break. I deferred my studies, and stumbled across this job. That was four years ago, and I haven't looked back since!


  7. What qualifications/experience are needed to work in this field?
    • VCE or equivalent.
    • Ability to learn quickly and concentrate on tasks
    • Ability to perform in a computerised environment and adapt to internal computer systems
    • Sound interpersonal skills and ability to exercise tact and discretion in a sensitive environment.
    • Training is provided on the job, although some form of work experience in the legal environment or tertiary education would be an advantage.
    • Four examinations must be completed, two of which are based on Commonwealth and StateLegislation.


  8. What are the best aspects about your job?
    • Variety of work locations to provide further training and career development.
    • Fellow employees and management are friendly which provides good work environment.
    • Organizing the court
    • Listening to court cases can be very interesting.


  9. What are the worst aspects?
    Personally I find the worst aspect is trying to study for the law examinations. It requires a lot of organizing of your personal timetable to be able to fit in the time for study.


  10. How many years' experience do you have in this field?
    4 years!


  11. Are there many employment opportunities?
    There are employment opportunities. Promotion to higher levels is based on merit and efficiency. Any officer can apply for positions both within the Courts and Tribunals Services Division and elsewhere in the Victorian Public Service.


  12. What makes you angry (at work or anytime)?
    I find the most frustrating and saddening aspects of the job are associated with Australia's ever-increasing crime rate due to drug abuse, violence, and peer group pressure.


  13. What are you passionate about?
    I'd have to say I am passionate about life itself, the meaning and experience it has to offer.


  14. Your favourite place in the world, and why?
    I haven't yet had the opportunity to travel. I hope one day to see the ancient relics of Egypt & Rome. I have great respect and appreciate the great civilizations of centuries ago.


  15. What is your idea of the perfect day?
    A sunny day, followed by company with friends and a few laughs!

    1. Drink plenty of water
    2. Exercise
    3. Have a balanced diet
    4. Laugh more
    5. Life is too short- so have fun!
