Kate Johnson Beautiful You Australia Interview

Question: Why did you originally become an ambassador for Beautiful You Australia?

Kate Johnson: To become an ambassador for an event, I have to feel strongly about what the event aims to achieve. I felt Beautiful You Australia was a great platform for me to continue to empower women and inspire them to achieve a healthy and happy lifestyle, feel confident and beautiful about themselves.

Question: How did you feel when you read that almost 40% of Australian women are mostly unhappy with their bodies?

Kate Johnson: The fact that this is a real and current statistic makes me feel even more motivated to be a positive role model and help women understand that beauty is defined in many ways. I continue to show this through my work on Chic Nation and Beautiful You Australia. Women should embrace their individual body type, strive for a healthy lifestyle and more importantly, not let the media make us feel inadequate.

Question: What do you hope to achieve with Beautiful You Australia?

Kate Johnson: I hope to achieve the values that the event embodies, which is to redefine beauty for women through aspects of living and to help overcome the idea that the ideal body type is the one portrayed by the media. It is about keeping it real and working with what you've got. No matter what your age, shape and individual circumstances are, beauty comes from within!

Question: How did you learnt to love your body?

Kate Johnson: I was taught from a young age that it was important to value what you have rather than trying to be something that isn't you. Life is much more fulfilling when you are comfortable and confident in your own skin. Strive to achieve a good lifestyle that suits you rather than seeking out the -model look'.

Question: What was the process for you to becoming comfortable in your own skin?

Kate Johnson: Starting from a young age, I was living an active lifestyle and I have always felt that it played a great role in helping me feel healthy and confident. I discovered that it all about how you feel rather than how you look. Beauty for me is about feeling confident within myself and fitness was one way that helped me to achieve that.

Question: What are your tips for Australian women to redefine how we view ourselves?

Kate Johnson: Try to achieve balance in your lifestyle rather than doing everything you can to achieve the -ideal body image'- of course this can be difficult, especially for younger girls. Remember that beauty comes from within and that is the best way to shine. Finding and achieving true happiness to suit your lifestyle is the best way to feel beautiful.

Question: What are your top tips for Spring/Summer beauty?

Kate Johnson: I am all for the ultra-polished glow. Beautiful, glowing skin can be achieved with a good highlighter, bronzer and a natural-looking spray tan - this will ensure you look glowing and summer-ready!

Question: What's a typical day like, for you?

Kate Johnson: My days are packed with a combination of modeling, working and various appointments. I start everyday with some exercise and a healthy breakfast. Several meetings, model shoots and interviews later (depending on what my schedule looks like) I like to make time to take my dogs for a walk and end with a bit of pampering time before I go to bed!

Question: How important is exercise and diet to your lifestyle?

Kate Johnson: So important that I would have to say that I wouldn't be what I am now without it! I have always led an active lifestyle and good health and nutrition was an important aspect of it. My personal trainer Blake Worrall-Thompson keeps me on track. Exercise and diet for me is about maintaining good health and wellbeing and feeling a sense of accomplishment once I achieve my fitness goals.
