Kayps to Bring 'Bunuba Baby' to Life on Australian Tour
KAYPS has been steadfastly asserting himself as one to watch, the release of his latest deadly track '765' capturing the attention of audiences and tastemakers alike. A powerful presence behind the mic and a charismatic performer to boot, KAYPS doesn't take steps forward – he strides.
The young Walmatjarri/Bunuba artist is on track for the release of his long-awaited album BUNUBA BABY (out Friday 14 August via Bad Apples Music) and to celebrate the project, KAYPS today announces a run of Australian live shows set for August and September.
Says KAYPS of this new tour, "I am unbelievably excited to bring this project on tour, it's such a great opportunity to tell my stories that come from my family who live in a town that the majority of people have never heard of. It's an opportunity for me to connect with people on a more personal level where I haven't been able to previously.
We've developed a set that feels so organic and homegrown, and we're trying to convey the honesty of the project to its truest form and I'm so lucky to be joined by Calvin Bennett and Isaiah Quintana as a part of my band for this tour."
KAYPS has been featured across a number of impressive live events including WAMFEST, SXSW Sydney and Austin, BIGSOUND and more. He was awarded winner of the triple j Indigenous Initiative in 2021, as well as being nominated as a Top 5 finalist in the Triple J Unearthed High competition in both 2021 and 2022.
Signing with Bad Apples Music in 2026, KAYPS is set to grow an already impressive upward trajectory.
