27 December 2006 - 28 January 2007 (except Australia Day)

A new interactive theatre show for kids Arrrgghhh! The Musical will be a highlight of the big pirate program at the Australian National Maritime Museum these holidays.

During the show kids will sing and dance as they hear about the mermaid who squirts slime, the pirate haunted by a ghost bell and the tale of the screaming skull. Performances will take place weekdays at 11 am, 12 pm and 1 pm throughout the holidays.

In other piratical fun kids will slide through through the mouth of a crocodile to enter the Pirates! adventure land where they can climb aboard a Spanish galleon, fire a cannon and even have a ghostly encounter with Blackbeard's ghost!

Kids Deck at Pirate School will be running arts and crafts activities for all apprentice pirates daily from 10 am to 4 pm..... Kids can make their very own Pirate Captain hat and eye patch and transform themselves from 'landlubbers' to fearless buccaneers.

Wetworld is back this summer and full of fun, watery games for visitors aged 3 to 9 years. Youngsters can get their hands wet in the intriguing Wet Lab where they can weigh, press, squirt and find out how water behaves in a host of splashy experiments.

Then play a tune on the custom-built 'Water Piano', race toy boats down a river obstacle course, have fun in the scaled-down canal system ...and finally cool down by taking aim in the Super Soaker Action Zone. Kids can expect to get wet so it's a good idea to dress for the occasion.

The National Maritime Museum represents a full day's entertainment for the whole family...there's the museum's Navy destroyer HMAS Vampire and the submarine HMAS Onslow to explore. Then take a step back in time on the magnificent replica of Captain Cook's 18th century HMB Endeavour.

Entry to the museum's exhibitions is free however admission is charged to the museum's ships. A combined ticket to Wetworld and Pirates! will be sold in the holidays ($9 per child/adult, $25 families or free with the purchase of a Big Ticket.

The National Maritime Museum, at Darling Harbour, is open daily 9.30 am to 5 pm (6 pm in January). All inquiries, (02) 9298 3777.
