Dynamic and multi-talented television and film actor TJ Wright is best known for his scene stealing role as 'Sekani Carter' opposite powerhouse actors Russell Hornsby, Amandla Stenberg and Regina Hall in the critically acclaimed FOX 2000 film THE HATE U GIVE (which is currently trending on Netflix), based on the debut YA novel from writer Angie Thomas, which touches on racism and police brutality as seen through the lens of a present-day black teenage girl, which instantly topped The New York Times best-seller list. Wright gives a standout performance as Starr's (Stenberg) little brother 'Sekani Carter,' shining through as the film's comic relief, and proving he's definitely one to watch.
In addition to THE HATE U GIVE, TJ recently starred alongside Michael B. Jordan in Netflix's sci-fi family "Raising Dion" (which has already been picked up for season 2) follows the story of Nicole Reese (Alisha Wainwright), who raises her son Dion (Ja'Siah Young), after the death of her husband Mark (Michael B. Jordan). The normal dramas of raising a son as a single mom are amplified when Dion starts to manifest several magical, superhero-like abilities. TJ stars as 'Chris,' the leader of the "cool kids" at Dion's new school, who everyone is eager to impress.
Hailing from Miami, Florida, TJ began his entertainment career in front of the camera as a model at two years old. By six, TJ started booking commercials for everything from Burger King to KFC and the American Heart Association. He also appeared on the CBS hit action-adventure television series "MacGyver." When he's not in front of the camera, TJ is also a talented swimmer, hip hop dancer, and self-taught artist excelling in a myriad of mediums including drawing, photography and multidimensional paintings. He has written numerous short stories and scripts including a short film, SEPARATE FRIENDS, which he directed at the age of eight years old.
