Federation Square Loading Bay Pop-up: Andy Warhol's 13 Most Beautiful
Free
Saturday 23 February 2013, 7pm - Sunday 24 February 2013, 7am
Andy Warhol is famous not just for his art - he's also known for the environment he created around the creation of his art. Most notable are the individuals who inhabited his infamous studio - The Factory. Over the years some of the most identifiable, creative and enigmatic personalities of the generation floated through that space. Warhol appropriated this traffic through a variety of filmic experiments, most notably through his Screen Tests series. Of all the Screen Tests, it is the 13 Most Beautiful series which captures the most special moments. Featuring sizeable personalities including Dennis Hopper, Edie Sedgwick, Lou Reed, Nico and more, there is something uniquely fascinating about these portraits. It is as if Warhol was knowingly building a strange kind of time machine that places the viewer right in the middle of the moment.
