Wicked Kiss

Wicked Kiss

When angels and demons must work together, something beyond evil is rising...

My kiss can kill.

I used to be ordinary Samantha Day, but that's changed. Now, after one dark kiss from a dangerous boy, I can steal someone's soul...or their life. If I give in to the constant hunger inside me, I hurt anyone I kiss. If I don't...I hurt myself.

Bishop is the one whose kiss I crave most, but if I kiss him, I'll kill him. Then there's another boy, one I can't hurt. One whose kiss seems to miraculously quell my hunger. They're both part of a team of angels and demons that's joined forces in my city to fight a mysterious rising darkness, an evil that threatens everyone I know and love. I just wonder if I'll be able to help Bishop " or if I'm just another part of the darkness he's sworn to destroy...

Interview with Michelle Rowen

Question: How did you come up with the idea of Wicked Kiss and the Nightwatchers series?

Michelle Rowen: The spark of the idea began with me wanting to write a modern day Snow White tale – a girl who finds herself in deep trouble and surrounded by an unusual group of helpers. Only, instead of dwarfs, they're angels and demons on a joint mission to save the world!

Question: What is the best thing about creating a character like Samantha Day?

Michelle Rowen: I loved writing Samantha, since in the two books I feel that she had a great deal of growth as a character. I also like her analytical and book smart way of looking at the world, which she certainly finds a challenge when faced with so many things that can't be rationally explained away. Also, her dealings with Bishop and Kraven, two very different boys whom she reacts to in two very different ways, is a great deal of fun to write.

Question: How much of your inspiration comes from real life and real people?

Michelle Rowen: That's hard to judge, actually! I can't say that any of my characters are based on any one person. But bits and pieces are certainly borrowed from here and there. I always say that everything and everyone can be an inspiration, depending on the day and the situation!

Question: How many books will we see in the Nightwatchers series?

Michelle Rowen: There are two books that finish the main story arc – Dark Kiss and Wicked Kiss. I like to think of it as a duology.

Question: What research went into Wicked Kiss?

Michelle Rowen: I did quite a bit of research on demon/angel mythology, high school life (things have changed since I was a student!), and I did my fair share of research into some historical details that play a big part in a couple characters' history. Saying any more about that would be a big spoiler! I'm happy to write in the fantasy genre, since I get to make up a lot of stuff out of my imagination, but some elements do require some deeper research, which can be fun.

Question: What advice do you have for aspiring writers or artists?

Michelle Rowen: Don't give up! If it's your dream to be a writer or artist, it can be a very challenging career. Sometimes it might seem easier to do something else instead. But if you have that fire inside of you that needs to tell stories, don't ignore it. And don't let anyone tell you that you can't do it. You can! (Believe me, if I can do it, anyone can!!) But you have to believe in yourself first and dedicate yourself 100% to the craft.

Question: Are you currently working on book three? What can you tell us?

Michelle Rowen: At this time, nothing further has been contracted by the publisher beyond Wicked Kiss. Happily, though, I am working on lots of other upcoming novels to keep me very busy! Please check out my website at www.michellerowen.com for all the latest news and updates!
