A Corroboree by Full Moon at Sovereign Hill

Award-winning event returns to Sovereign Hill

A Corroboree by Full Moon will be held at Sovereign Hill on Friday, 23 November 2018.

This award-winning community event is part of Sovereign Hill's annual Gnarrwirring Ngitj/Learning Together Program, which showcases local Aboriginal history and living culture.

Beginning as darkness descends, Corroboree by Full Moon will feature Wadawurrung dancers, along with people from other Aboriginal nations across Victoria and beyond. The performance presents an opportunity to learn about the region's 50,000-year history and the oldest continuous cultures on Earth. Sovereign Hill's new adventure Play Space will be open for ticket holders to enjoy on the night, in addition to a variety of hands-on educational activities.

Sovereign Hill's inaugural Corroboree event recently won a Museums and Galleries National Award (MAGNA) and a Reconciliation Victoria HART Award. It was believed to be the first Corroboree held in Ballarat for over 150 years.

"Victoria's 38 Aboriginal nations have demonstrated incredible strength, resilience and adaptability in the face of colonisation. Come along to Corroboree by Full Moon at Sovereign Hill to celebrate this, and enjoy a community Corroboree just like we did 150 years ago during the gold rush," says Sovereign Hill Education Officer and Gnarrwirring Ngitj Project Manager, Alice Barnes.

Tickets for the 2018 Corroboree are on sale now – Adult tickets are $10, while children under 18 years of age can attend free with a paying adult. To book visit https://www.eventbrite.com.au
