Cancer Council Australia's Biggest Morning Tea

Cancer Council Australia's Biggest Morning Tea

Thursday 24th May is Australia's Biggest Morning Tea

Every cup counts in the fight against cancer

Cancer Council Victoria is calling on residents across the state to take part in Australia's Biggest Morning Tea, and by doing so, help raise funds for the fight against cancer. All funds raised will go towards the Cancer Council's research, prevention programs and support services.

Spokesperson for Cancer Council Victoria, Deb Stringer, says, "Australia's Biggest Morning Tea is now in its 19th year - and we couldn't have got this far without the ongoing backing and fundraising efforts of our supporters. In 2011, over 110,000 morning tea hosts and their friends helped raise $2.4 million for Cancer Council Victoria. In 2012, we're hoping to encourage even more supporters to host a morning tea and help raise $2.8 millionacross the state. This will fund our research into all cancers, prevention programs such as QUIT and SunSmart, as well as our support services such as the Cancer Council Helpline, where callers can speak to a trained cancer nurse".

Whilst the official date for Australia's Biggest Morning Tea is Thursday 24th May, supporters can catch up over a cuppa and host an event any time in May, or even in June. Whether it's a simple morning tea with workmates, a sophisticated high tea with friends or an all-out event with your local sporting club or a school -getting involved is easy!Simply register as a host, set a date in May and invite your friends. In return, your guests make a donation to the Cancer Council.

Every cup counts in the fight against cancer so go on, put the kettle on and help raise funds to support the 78 Victorians diagnosed with cancer every day.
