Face your fear during Shark Month at Sydney Aquarium

Following the announcement that Sydney Aquarium is undergoing a $10 million refurbishment programme, the attraction has launched 'Shark Month' - the first of many exciting preview opportunities and activities taking place in the lead up to the aquarium's re-launch in September.

For the very first time, Sydney Aquarium will undertake public Shark Surface Feeds and talks daily at 3:15pm - with additional talks throughout the day - giving guests the chance to see some of Australia's most feared, unique and spectacular creatures be fed from the surface of the aquarium's enormous Oceanarium.

In the spirit of Shark Month, the aquarium will also recommence its famous Glass Bottom Boat shark feeds over the iconic Great Barrier Reef tank, as well as feature a shark tracking video highlighting footage of Great White Shark migration and Bull Sharks in Sydney Harbour, to be shown in the aquarium's Shark HQ.

Visitors opting to keep their feet planted firmly on the ground will still be able to get involved; they can visit the shark hatchlings nursery, hold shark eggs in the touch pool and learn about some of the fascinating features of these magnificent marine creatures at Shark Jaws talks by Sydney Aquarium's resident shark experts, taking place daily at 12pm, 1:30pm and 4:30pm.

"People's fascination with sharks tends to be one of the main reasons they visit, with the aquarium being one of the only places they can be viewed up close. This month we hope to dispel some of the myths that surround shark behaviour, particularly regarding our more ferocious-looking residents, the Grey Nurse sharks, whose temperaments more closely resemble a Labrador's," said Dylan Cosgrave, Guest Experience Manager, Sydney Aquarium.
