Let The Music Play

Let The Music Play

The Fortitude Music Hall and The Zoo are thrilled to announce the lineup for the largest ticketed single-day festival in Fortitude Valley history.

Let The Music Play lands Saturday 13 August
and will take place across four iconic venues and a special Warner Street outdoor precinct dubbed 'Unicorn Alley', for a whole day and night of classic Valley shenanigans. Highlighting the river city's unique night-time precinct, Let The Music Play celebrates the highest concentration of pubs and clubs in the Southern Hemisphere and the melting pot that makes The Valley so special. In addition to Warner Street's 'Unicorn Alley', punters will be able to explore the legendary Fortitude Valley entertainment precinct while gaining access to some of Brisbane's most iconic live music spaces, including, The Fortitude Music Hall, The Zoo and Brightside Outdoors

Headlining the event are Northeast Party House, known for their irresistibly catchy, dance-floor ready anthems and unbridled live performances. Northeast Party House will bring the unstoppable party energy that's in their DNA. Joining in for the celebration are acclaimed hip-hop trio, Thundamentals, who bring over a decade of singalong hits to the stage. Hot off the back of her latest release, WAFIA, returns to Australian shores to set the Valley alight with her unforgettable alt-pop anthems.

The party doesn't stop there, with the broader festival bill representing some of Australia's most exciting live performers. From the hard-hitting raps of Jesswar to the viral dance sounds of Mash'd N Kutcher and the brooding pop beats of CLOE TERARE - there's something for everyone. Festival-goers can look forward to discovering something different while checking out the genre-bending sounds of BULLHORN, or spectators can immerse themselves in the dark, contemplative electronic soundscapes of COLLAR. Don't forget to check out Jordan Burns, for his first-ever live show with his full band.

Joining these dazzlers are emerging party starters from near and far including Dancing Water, Great Sage, JOY, Jordan Burns, Kinder, Pink Matter, Safety Club, TSEBA and WIIGZ.

This year, Let The Music Play, teams up with the brains behind Brisbane institution FLUFFY for a huge inclusive activation space in Warner Street. Prepare for a street party second to none as FLUFFY and the team behind Let The Music Play shut down Warner street and transform it into 'Unicorn Alley'. A disco blowout that brings together a true leader in the party circuit and all the opulence and excitement of FLUFFY.

The street will be packed with performances from drag artists, DJ's and of course, dance floors - bringing all the vitality and spirit of the Fortitude Valley to the streets. FLUFFY Promoter and DJ, Harry K says "
Harry K & Fluffy are proud to partner up with Let Me The Music Play Festival to present UNICORN ALLEY | A Safe Space Of All. The Valley has always been the epicentre for Queer Culture in Brisbane. Harry K's Fluffy has been part of its history for over 21 years and will be taking over Warner Street and transforming it into the ultimate block party full of colour, music, shows, drag queens, DJs & performing arts. Unicorn Alley is all about expressing your true athletic self and celebrating together as ONE."

Born from a need to protect live music through the COVID-19 pandemic, last year, Let The Music Play aimed to bolster the live entertainment scene in Brisbane and Fortitude Valley. This year the event continues its commitment to fiercely protect Brisbane and Fortitude Valley's unrivalled venues and musicians.

Head of programming at The Fortitude Music Hall and Let The Music Play co-curator Mark Gibbons says it's a chance to celebrate what we have but also remember the venues that we've lost, "We are proud to be able to announce the return of Let The Music Play. After a critical few years for the live music industry, it is our duty to continue to support the Fortitude Valley, Brisbane live music venues and the creative arts. This event honours past and present party-goers that frequent our creative spaces and show collective resolve against whatever the next obstacles thrown at us are – be it fire, flood, plague."
