Measure for Measure

Measure for Measure

With a stellar Australian cast led by Hugo Weaving and including rising stars Harrison Gilbertson and Megan Hajjar, Measure for Measure comes from dynamic writing/directing team Paul Ireland and Damian Hill (who tragically passed away last year), and follows PAWNO, Ireland's critically acclaimed 2016 directorial debut, which marked him as a filmmaker to watch.

A contemporary reimagining of William Shakespeare's play of the same name, this gritty, action-packed romantic drama depicts the unlikely love that ignites between a modern Muslim girl and a local musician against a background of racial tension, amphetamines and gang culture, within a notorious inner-urban housing estate.

With themes of justice, loyalty and revenge, this compelling tale is also a raw study of the most basic, yet most complex of emotions…love…how we react to it, where we find it…and how far we would go to keep it.

Directed by Paul Ireland, written and produced by Ireland and Damian Hill, and starring Hugo Weaving, Harrison Gilbertson, Megan Hajjar, Mark Leonard Winter, Daniel Henshall, Fayssal Bazzi, Doris Younane, Josh McConville, Christie Whelan Brown, Malcolm Kennard, Luke Lennox and John Brumpton, Measure for Measure will screen in cinemas from May 14 through Umbrella Entertainment.
