Oktoberfest Bier-lympics

Oktoberfest Bier-lympics

On your mark, get set, prost!

The Bavarian Beerhaüs is hosting something extra special in addition to its five-week calendar of Oktoberfest celebrations: Bowen Hills' very first Oktoberfest Bier-lympics.

Free royal snacks, wonderfully wacky challenges and music are all part of an Olympic-sized line-up of activities taking place at The Bavarian Beerhaüs at Bowen Hills on Saturday, 20 October.

An official Oktoberfest keg tap at midday marks the beginning of the games. Guests can dive into bier-lympic challenges taking place from 1pm. Challenges include sausage throwing, apple bobbing and The Bavarian Beerhaüs' legendary stein holding competition. The winner of each will receive a $20 restaurant voucher and giant pretzel medal.

At 2pm, furry four-legged friends are invited to strut their stuff for the highly-anticipated Dogs of Oktobberfest Competition. From Schnauzers to Pinschers and Daschunds to Poodles, dogs of all sizes have a chance to win a trophy, doggy treats, and a $20 restaurant voucher for their owner.

At 4pm, a second Oktoberfest keg tap will signal two hours of free snacks from the Royal Snack Bar. Diners can indulge in mini dagwood dogs, chicken wings and loaded fries.

The games continue into the evening with nail hammering, sausage eating, yodelling and bier pong, continuing into the evening.

An official Oktoberfest bier, Hacker Pschorr Oktoberfest Marzen, will be on tap all day. This slightly bitter brew with hints of malt caramel and citrus has been imported from Bavaria.

The Bavarian Beerhaus' Oktoberfest Bier-lympics are part of the restaurants month long schedule of Oktoberfest celebrations, which end on Sunday, 28 October. Guests still have time to dive into the festivities, which include special set-menus, group packages and a series of delicious foodie challenges.

There is also one last chance for diners to sign up to become an Oktober Boss, proving their dedication to this renowned annual festival by taking four foodie challenges: eating a pork knuckle, schnitzel, pretzel and donut pretzel. Those who tick off each challenge will achieve the ultimate Oktober Boss status and receive a limited-edition Oktoberfest t-shirt and an official stein to keep.

Oktoberfest will draw to a close on Sunday 28 October, when guests have one last chance to drink the limited-edition Oktoberfest bier and say "so-long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, good night" to Oktoberfest 2018.
