Parko Techni Public Artworks Display at Sydney Olympic Park

Parko Techni 2018 is a collection of six public artworks temporarily displayed across Sydney Olympic Park.

Following an Expression of Interest program conducted by Sydney Olympic Park Authority, the works have been created by artists invited to visually respond to Sydney Olympic Park's unique character. The six artworks by five awarded artists reflect both current modes of contemporary art practice and the rich diversity of the Park's built and natural environment.

While traditionally most of Sydney Olympic Park's arts events are exhibited at Newington Armory, Parko Techni 2018 is a site-wide display and works have been realised in a variety of media including digital projection, interactive light poles, rope-based works, murals and free-standing sculpture.

Sydney Olympic Park Authority's Senior Manager, Place Activation and Strategy, Tony Nesbitt says of Parko Techni 2018: "The Park has a unique energy and is anything but a homogenous place. We have one of the world's great urban parklands, monumental architecture, stadia, intimate pocket parks and sparkling new residential precincts, and these have all informed the works in this show.

"We have a really interesting mix of artists involved, ranging from important figures in contemporary art practice such as Khaled Sabsabi and Gary Deirmendjian, through to Sculpture by the Sea alumnus, Emma Anna, emerging light sculptors, Lumiforms, and Eggpicnic, whose distinctive graphic works already feature on many construction hoardings across the city," added Mr Nesbitt.

Since late-July, Parko Techni 2018 is being gradually installed at Sydney Olympic Park and the FREE public exhibition will remain on display until 31 October 2018.
