Cast: Saoirse Ronan, Diana Kruger, William Hurt, Max Irons
Director: Andrew Nicol
Genre: Sci-Fi, Thriller, Romance

Synopsis: Based on the best-selling novel by Twilight Saga author Stephenie Meyer, The Host takes us into the near future, where planet Earth has been taken over by peaceful aliens known as Souls, who inhabit the minds of the human race. Academy Award® Nominee, Saoirse Ronan, stars as one of the last remaining humans who sets out on a desperate fight to resist, save herself, and the ones she loves.

Verdict: Following the text closely The Host investigates a world where alien enemies threaten mankind by taking their bodies and using their memories to find other human life, on Earth. Melanie Stryder (Saoirse Ronan) is a strong host who convinces her Soul, Wanderer, to protect the people she cares most about, her brother and boyfriend which leads Wanderer to Melanie's Uncle Jeb. Together they prove love can actually conquer all.

It is Saoirse Ronan and Stephenie Meyer's interesting concept that carries this film; whilst the film is stimulating on the surface the core motivation is lost in the adaptation.
