Banana Blueberry Smoothie Bowl

Banana Blueberry Smoothie Bowl

Australian Bananas has partnered with expert Dietitian, Susie Burrell to create an immunity-boosting recipe, featuring key nutrients to support the immune system's response to illnesses and help us to stay as healthy as possible at present.

The recipe, Banana Blueberry Smoothie Bowl includes the superfood bananas, packed with vitamin B6, vitamin C and potassium – a perfectly balanced blend of goodness for the body to keep us fighting fit. Australian Bananas are about to hit their peak season, making them the perfect essential item to keep in the fruit bowl or stored in the freezer.

Makes 3 bowls

Ingredients
4 frozen bananas
1 cup plain unsweetened yoghurt or coconut yoghurt
2 tablespoons protein powder (or milk powder)
1 tablespoon honey (or to taste)
½ cup almond milk or cow's milk

To top your bowl:
1 cup blueberries
1 cup mixed seeds and nuts
Other fruit or nuts of your choice

Method
Choose small deep bowls and chill them before you start.
Place all of the ingredients into a blender and mix until you have a nice smooth, thick puree.
Pour the banana smoothie into the bowls and add fruit and nuts before eating with a spoon.

Discussing the benefits of the recipes, Susie Burrell notes: 'One of the easiest and most powerful things we can do when supporting our immune function is to eat well. In terms of diet, this translates to focusing your food intake around fresh, natural foods and filling your diet with: 7-10 serves of fresh fruits and veg per day, lean protein, good fats from nuts, olive oil and seeds, in addition to probiotics from fermented foods and prebiotics from vegetables and unripened bananas. This ensures your body is getting all the key nutrients it needs to keep the immune system running at its best and will also help to support optimal gut health.'
