Produced by GRAMMY Award winning Om'Mas Keith (Frank Ocean, JAY Z), Gentleman boldly captures who Budjerah is as an artist with a nod to the pop and RNB music he grew up listening to. Led by the singles "Even At Worst", "Could I Be", "Gentleman" and "Want You Back", this album offers 11 effortlessly timeless tracks that capture the personal growth he went through from ages 20 to 24 whilst working on the record. He worked with an A-list of songwriters to help craft the honest feeling the record captures like Poo Bear (Justin Bieber), Diane Warren (Celine Dion, Beyonce), Philip Lawrence (Bruno Mars), Rob Lewis (Christina Aguilera), Autumn Rowe (Alexis Jordan), and Alex Burnett (Thelma Plum).
Of the album Budjerah says, "Gentleman is my debut album and It's inspired by who I wanted to be when I was growing up. This album was almost a 4 year process for me. Between my life at home and life on the road, I experienced so much change and growth. Chasing my dreams I faced new challenges which helped me understand who I wanted to be. Every song on this album holds a piece of me. I hope little Budjerah is proud."
When you ask Budjerah to describe the record, he talks about it almost visually. "Could I Be" is euphoric, bright blue and sunlit, the rush of realising you are falling in love. "Let Me Know" is purple, a shade of slow devotion, the kind of song Budjerah can already imagine becoming someone's wedding song. "Gentleman" is deep red, candlelit romance. "Sinner" is all about shadows, the bad boy underneath the gentleman, undone tie and unbuttoned shirt. "Even At My Worst" brings the album back to family, gratitude and unconditional love.
