Christmas in July Festival returns to The Rocks!

Christmas in July Festival returns to The Rocks!

This winter, Sydney is getting a cinematic experience like no other and it involves crackling fire pits, classic Christmas movies, marshmallows roasting, and mulled wine under the stars.

As part of the beloved Christmas in July Festival in the Rocks, the city will welcome the first-ever Fire Pit Cinema in Australia, taking place for ten nights only from Friday 11 July to Sunday 20th of July 2025. Set against the historic backdrop of Cadmans Cottage in The Rocks, this pop-up experience offers the coziest winter night out.

Guests will be able to book their own private fire pit for two to six people, settle in under a blanket, sip on steaming hot chocolate or mulled wine, and enjoy timeless Christmas flicks like Home Alone, Elf, Love Actually, The Holiday and Last Christmas; all while toasting marshmallows over the fire. It's romantic, nostalgic and wonderfully festive.

Each booking includes a reserved fire pit, cosy blankets, marshmallows to roast, and outdoor cinema access. Whether you're planning a date night, a winter catch-up with friends, or a magical family outing, the Fire Pit Cinema is a movie night reimagined, warm, atmospheric and totally unforgettable.

One month until Christmas in July Festival is back enchanting The Rocks!

The Fire Pit Cinema is one of the headline experiences of this year's Christmas in July Festival, returning to The Rocks with an expanded village and even more festive charm. Entry to the festival is free, and the precinct will transform into a European-style Christmas winter market featuring authentic wooden chalets, falling snow in Snow Lane, artisan gift stalls, over 80 real Christmas trees, and kilometres of fairy lights.

Food lovers will be spoiled for choice, with over 20 pop-up restaurants offering classic winter comfort dishes from across Europe. From melted raclette and Traditional Choucroute to bratwursts, schnitzels, lobster rolls, and sugar-dusted crêpes, every bite is designed to transport guests straight to the snowy streets of Strasbourg or Salzburg.

Warm drinks will be flowing from the festival's Hot Chocolate Stations, mulled wine bars and live shows and performers will give visitors the chance to gather, sip, and enjoy the vibe all through The Rocks.

Festival Director Vincent Hernandez says the Fire Pit Cinema brings everything you love about winter and Christmas in one place. "It's the first time we're doing this, and the first time anyone in Australia has. We wanted to create something truly special, a cosy and cinematic winter experience that makes you feel like you've stepped into a Christmas movie. It's festive, it's atmospheric, and it's going to be one of the highlights of the season."

The Fire Pit Cinema and the Christmas in July Festival will run from 11 to 20 July 2025 in front of Cadmans Cottage, and in The Rocks. Festival entry is free. Fire Pit Cinema bookings are limited and essential.
