Interview with Christopher Rutherford as Woody

Question: What's your favourite thing about Woody?

Christopher Rutherford: I really admire Woody's dedication to his friends and his role as the benevolent leader of the Toy Story toys.

Question: Do you have any pre-rituals before you go onto stage?

Christopher Rutherford: Aside from my normal tasks of warming up, putting on my show makeup, and prepping my costume, the only pre-show ritual I have is enjoying my morning coffee.

Question: Have you ever forgotten your steps or lines while performing?

Christopher Rutherford: It happens from time to time, but as a professional, you just have to play it off so the audience never knows.

Question: What's it like performing for a huge audience?

Christopher Rutherford: Stage lights are often blinding such that you can't see beyond the first five rows or so. The only difference between large and small audiences is the noise they make. Enthusiastic audiences are always great for the feedback they provide to performers on stage.

Question: What is your favourite Disney movie?

Christopher Rutherford: Lilo & Stitch. Hands down. Stitch is the best character ever!

Question: Have you always loved to dance as a kid?

Christopher Rutherford: wasn't a dancer as a child. I didn't discover my interest in performing until I was 24 years old.

Question: What is your dance anthem that gets you grooving?

Christopher Rutherford: I really get pumped when I hear Levels by Avicii.

Question: Do you have any tips you can share on how to be confident when you're breaking out a dance move?

Christopher Rutherford: Having fun when you're dancing is the key. As long as you're enjoying yourself, people watching you should too.
