Not only are they refreshing, light, tasty and colourful, pasta salads are easy to prepare and can be eaten almost anywhere.

Leading sports dietitian and author of two San Remo pasta recipe books, Kerry Leech, says wholemeal pasta salads are a healthy lunch or dinner alternative for the whole family.

'Wholemeal pasta is a simple, tasty and nutritious meal option," Kerry said. 'It's also a great way to increase the fibre content in your diet. 'Australians should be aiming for at least 30 grams of fibre in their diet per day. 'This means that if you're not getting enough fibre in your daily eating plan, a serve of wholemeal pasta can easily help. 'Wholemeal pasta has a distinct taste and adds a fuller flavour to pasta dishes. 'It is also packed with wholegrains and B-Group vitamins, helping to boost our intake of these each day.
