New Organic Supermarket joins the Renaissance of Melbourne's High St Armadale
Macro Wholefoods Market, Australia's largest organics retailer, have announced the opening of their highly anticipated sixth store on Tuesday 14 November. The largest Macro Wholefoods to date is on the site of the former Armadale Hotel on High Street, Armadale in Melbourne.

High Street has been undergoing a dramatic retail renaissance over the past few years and Macro is proud to join the array of premier boutique stores including fashion designers Scanlan & Theodore, Arabella Ramsay and Roy to cement the street's position as one of Melbourne's ultimate destination shopping precincts.

The two-storey Macro Wholefoods Market in Armadale will encompass a 700 square metre organic supermarket, an indoor and outdoor Macro Café with seating for 73, a Macro Naturopathy Consultation & Dispensary Centre and a Macro Deli. Macro will be converting the Armadale Upstairs Band Room into a wellbeing centre and the store will offer 35 free customer car parking spaces, unheard of in Armadale.

Macro Wholefoods Market owner, Pierce Cody a former regular of the Armadale Hotel during his university days, sees the opening of Macro on the site of the iconic pub, as a symbol of the paradigm shift occurring throughout Australia. Australians are moving towards a more considered approach towards lifestyle and consumption choices.

"The world is undergoing a cultural shift away from heavily processed and treated foods," says Pierce Cody. "An ever growing number of consumers are demanding the responsible and ethical service of food and Macro is proud to lead the way - providing clean and simple food much praised just as nature intended."

Macro's unique retail experience, which combines a muted shabby-chic retail design with an extensive range of local, environmentally sustainable, nutritionally superior and fair-trade foods, is attracting a new breed of shopper - labeled by Macro as 'conscious consumers'.

Macro's owner, Pierce Cody identifies a conscious consumer as a customer who is prepared to vote with their shopping dollar, to buy products that are in line with their values and lifestyle - which includes taking an interest and responsibility for their health and supporting local organic farmers.

Macro is leading the country's booming $350million plus organics industry and the company's roll-out of organic supermarkets will continue into the New Year as two more Macro Wholefoods Markets open in Westfield Hornsby, NSW in December and Concord, NSW in January.
