These school holidays children can -go wild' becoming immersed in our world's wonderful wildlife in a fun-filled holiday program at the Australian National Maritime Museum inspired by the much-loved exhibition Wildlife Photographer of the Year from London's Natural History Museum.

A full day out for all the family includes art, craft and games, interactive musical performances, the chance to get up close and personal with creature specimens and more. Plus there's a family torchlight tour of HMAS Vampire, special under 5s tours and youth workshops to keep the big kids busy in the school holidays.

Kids on Deck craft sessions: Marvellous Menagerie
4 – 12 years
24 September – 9 October, 10am – 4pm

Play, create and discover in Kids on Deck – a fun filled activity space with art making, games, and dress ups for primary school aged children and their carers. These holidays, delve into the natural history of Australian wildlife, inspired by our current exhibitions. Create your own watercolour collages and brush scripts, craft a creature hat or sculpt a cardboard camera.  Enjoy dress ups and interactive games. 

Entry included in the museum's Big Ticket.

 

Cabinet of Curiosities: Creature Feature
4 – 12 years
24 September – 9 October, 11am – 12pm, 2pm – 3pm

Touch and discover curious creature specimens and photographic technology artefacts from our education collection in this hands on discovery touch trolley inside the galleries

Performance: Jungle Drums
4 – 12 years

Selective dates throughout the holidays, 10am – 4pm

Tap, drum, beat and shake your tail feather with interactive musical workshops and performances inspired by wild creatures and wilderness environments.

Under 5s Tour: Art Adventure

18 months – 5 years
26 and 30 September, 3 and 7 October 10am – 4pm, 10am or 11am

Explore amazing artworks on display at the museum through movement, songs and storytime in a fun and interactive learning program especially designed for toddlers. Afterwards head to Kids on Deck for crafts and messy play.

Family Torchlight Tour: Night in the Navy on HMAS Vampire
4 – 12 years
28 September 6.15pm – 7.45pm

Join your character guide for a dramatic after-dark tour through the HMAS Vampire. Enjoy creative capers, light refreshments and exclusive after-hours access to the vessel and Action Stations experience.

Youth Workshop: Print Making Bandits

8 – 14 years
27 September 10am – 3.30pm

Get creative in a hands-on print-making workshop inspired by our temporary exhibitions. Experiment with creating your own designs in sun prints, screen prints, stencils, stamp making and more in this fun-filled one day workshop.

Youth Photography Workshop: Macro with Mini Beasts
8 – 14 years
4 October 10am – 3.30pm

Inspired by our Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition, learn to create your own 'wild" scenes with plants and insects to photograph in macro. Take a photo shoot around the museum and build skills in using digital SLR cameras. Have your photos printed and showcased in a special exhibition at the museum.
