ASP TOUR VETERAN TRUDY TODD WINS AT THE RIP CURL MALIBU PRO, WHILE ANDREW KEEGAN AND JESSE BILLAUER TAKE FIRST AT THE SECOND ANNUAL RIP CURL MALIBU PRO CELEBRITY SURF BOUT

Fresh off of announcing her retirement from professional surfing, Trudy Todd takes first place and charity team surf bout to benefit Heal The Bay, sees six celebrity teams battle it out for Hollywood bragging rights during The Rip Curl Malibu Pro

Malibu (10/10/2005) - Malibu Surfrider Beach was blessed over the weekend with some of the best surf it has seen all year. Coinciding with The Rip Curl Malibu Pro and Celebrity Surf Bout, the contest provided for some intense competitive surfing involving the best women surfers in the world. None too sooner than announcing her retirement from the Tour, veteran charger Trudy Todd had an upset victory over Samantha Cornish to win at the legendary point break right hander.

With a history rich with Hollywood legend, Malibu Surfrider Beach provided a perfect landscape for the Second Rip Curl Celebrity Surf Bout. With six teams competing for ultimate bragging rights, perfect right hand waves and a keen team of celebrity judges (Amy Smart - Starsky and Hutch, Ashley Scott - Into The Blue), emcee Nick Zano ("What I Like About You") called the play by play for the intense heat. Celebrity notables such as Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Rick Schroder (Strong Medicine), Chris Pontius (Wild Boyz) and Geoff Stults (Wedding Crashers) braved overhead surf to help raise money and awareness for clean water organization Heal The Bay. But, the true hero of the day was Jesse Billauer (paralyzed surfer, motivational speaker and founder of liferollson.org) who took the first place prize with teammate Andrew Keegan (10 Things I Hate About You) whose off the top maneuvers made him stand out from the rest of Hollywood's finest.

The Rip Curl Malibu Pro is the only women's stand alone WCT event to take place on mainland USA soil, and showcases an awesome spectacle of women's professional surfing at one of the world's best point breaks. The event was sponsored in part by Paul Mitchell Systems and media partners included Elle Girl and Surfing Girl.
