CHRISSYS ISLAND FAMILY, written and performed by multi-Aria & Deadly Award winner Christine Anu is available now through ABC For Kids Music. The album is Christines first release for children, featuring a collection of songs resonating from her Indigenous cultural upbringing in the Torres Strait.
CHRISSYS ISLAND FAMILY, will introduce Chrissy, a little Torres Strait Islander girl and her tropical island blue friends Samu, the 'wakka woo ' cassowary, Waru the magical, mythical 400 year old turtle and Sisi the gecko, who is there for me and you. Employing her trademark style and tenacity, Christine summoned her own childhood memories and musical brilliance to breathe life into these adorable characters.
Each song has been carefully written and developed by Christine Anu and contains a heartfelt message about the changing world we live in. The music is uniquely Australian celebrating the many cultures Australia pays homage to which is reflected beautifully in the songs Indijin-Us, Hello and My Friends. There is also a strong environmental message contained within the songs Save Our World, Tropical Island Blue and Sunny Sunshine which highlight the fundamental importance of nature and conservation.
The lyrics are poetic, with some featuring traditional Torres Strait language such as Nak e Ba-Na-Na, Chugga Choo, and Rattle Drum (Warup & Kulap) providing youngsters with fun education on Australian indigenous heritage, all the while incorporating an eclectic mix of music styles from Pop, to Rock and soft ballads as heard in Sea Shell Lullabies and "Go Fish".
Representing the birth of a new genre of kids music that is uniquely and refreshingly Australian, 'CHRISSYS ISLAND FAMILY' provides Aussie kids the opportunity to enjoy a very special brand of music rich in history and Indigenous Australian Culture.
To coincide with the release of the album, 'CHRISSYS ISLAND FAMILY' is available as a live stage show featuring a loveable character version of Chrissy and a host.
