Leonardo DiCaprio was an early bloomer into the world of acting. He first appeared on television when he was fifteen in an advertisement for matchbox cars.
It was this part that led to his small appearance in "Mickey's Safety Club" and "How to Deal with Parents Who Take Drugs".
From here he graduated to appearances in episodes of "Lassie" and a role as a teenage alcoholic in the TV soap opera "Santa Barbara".
He also spent the final year of the series "Growing Pains" playing a troubled homeless boy.
His love for acting pushed him into doing many live performances with theatre companies. His real desire was to act in movies, and his break came in 1993 when he was given the lead role in "This Boy's Life".

Robert De Niro starred in the film and Leo said "De Niro inspired me for this role in which I had to confront the sensitive subject matter of child abuse."
The next film that followed was a milestone in his career. In "What's Eating Gilbert Grape", Leo won an academy award for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of a mentally challenged boy named Arnie.
Some of the many movies that followed were:
The Quick and the Dead
The Basketball Diaries (Leo earned a sweet $1,000,000 for this part)

Titanic was the film that captured the hearts of young and old as people around the globe flocked to see the movie 2, 3 or even 123 times to watch the haunting tale of love.
His role in "Titanic" led to his next film, "The Man in the Iron Mask", which just pushed his fame even further.
His next big movie was "The Beach". Which was very popular as it featured the young actor shirtless on the sandy beaches in Thailand.
"People Magazine" voted Leonardo Di Caprio twice as one of their 50 'Most Beautiful People' in 1997 and 1998. He is a very talented young actor who was once quoted as saying, "The best thing about acting is that I get to lose myself in another character and actually get paid for it. It's a great outlet. As for myself, I am not sure who I am. It seems that I change every day."
