Beauty Doc tip:
Keep your hair "sun safe" when in the great outdoors this summer! Protect your locks from the suns damaging rays by sporting a hat; replenish moisture with regular deep conditioning treatments; and apply a sunscreen for your hair before hitting the beach, park or bike track!!
Acne, oily skin and makeup…
I have oily skin and acne also. Whenever I do my makeup myself it goes dark after some time. What should I do for it?
Uneven makeup
Hi uneven makeup!
Beauty Doc tip:
With oily skin, choose an oil-free foundation, and keep blotting papers handy for oil-free blotting on the run.
Finding a durable foundation can be a little tricky with an oily skin, so here are a few tips to assist your quest. Are you using an oil-free foundation?
*Cream and stick foundations are often oil based (partially to provide their complete coverage), so if you have a tendency to break out, apply with a light hand, and use a corn starch or rice powder to set foundation.
*Liquids come in a variety of formulas, so go for oil-free and water based liquids which are designed to last better on oily skin.
*Powder foundations that can be used wet or dry will give you the best coverage and last longer. Apply with a damp sponge for sheer matte coverage, for heavier coverage with a dry sponge. You may still have to apply a blotting powder over top for long lasting results, but you will be less likely to have to do touch-ups.
*Cream to powders also deliver good coverage, but are not as natural as liquids.
There are under makeup preparations available, to control the shine factor, as your oil flow may be the cause of your makeup going darker as it becomes "wet" from your overproduction of sebum (the skins oil). Try The Body Shop's "mattifier", apply a light coat on your oil-prone areas after you moisturise, and let it set before you apply your foundation.
Always set your foundation with a translucent powder – rice powder and corn starch provide the best absorbency, so look for products with these high up on the ingredients list.
Blotting tissues are a convenient way to dab shine while you are out and about – The Body Shop and M.A.C for this oily skin saviour.
