Australia Zoo has their very own Derek Hough
Derek Hough has been such an inspiring and supportive teacher for Bindi Irwin during her journey so far on the hit US TV show Dancing with the Stars, that Australia Zoo has named a young koala after the dancing champion.
-Derek' the koala joey is expected to take after his parents who both have backgrounds in the spotlight, often meeting visitors and having their pictures taken at the Zoo. Although the adorable joey may not be as fast on his feet as his namesake, we believe his adorable koala charm will see him become just as popular.
The world has watched in awe as Team Crikey have torn up the dance floor off the back of Derek's expert teachings so it's only fitting that we name one of our new, much loved joeys after Bindi's inspirational dance partner.
Bindi, who is loving her Dancing with the Stars journey is proud to name the sweet joey after her dance mentor.
'It's very special to be able to name Derek the koala joey at Australia Zoo after my amazing dance partner and friend who has taught me so much." Said Bindi.
'I'm so grateful for Derek's support throughout this whole journey, and am thrilled that we will have our very own Derek so one day they can meet at Australia Zoo!" She said.
Derek is a true wildlife warrior and has loved animals since a young age, this passion for wildlife has been reignited when he was greeted by Bindi with a snake before the first episode aired.
Now with spring in full swing in Australia, guests can easily spot Derek and his koala joey friends exploring their beautiful home at Australia Zoo.
