"The idea for 'Clubland Smashed' came about when Tuffcub (DJ from London we've known for years) approached us wanting to do a mix album for our label, the idea quickly developed into us all collaborating on a mash-up album. An idea inspired by the Megabass and DMC cut-up albums from back in the day, and our history of producing bootleg remixes and mash-ups, a past we'll never be forgotten for!"
In our formative years as The FNP we produced just over 100 mash-ups between 1998 and 2001, for this album we produced 50 brand-new ones in three months! I'm not sure if anyone is actually supposed to enjoy compiling & mixing a compilation album, but we certainly did! I think it put us back by almost a month, it was a close call as well, in the final week Tuffcub didn't sleep for 60 hours, Scott was yo-yoing back & forth to the studio, I was practically living in the studio and mastering the album literally the night before the final deadline. Having said that, we enjoyed every second of it and I cannot wait to get my teeth in to the next 'Smashed' album!"- Friday Night Posse
