The wait is finally over! Much to the joy of fans, one of Australian Idol's most loved and talented artists, Rebekah LaVauney will be releasing her debut EP, entitled Chapter 1 into retail stores now.

The official Sydney launch of Rebekah's EP took place at Cave Nightclub, Star City Casino on the 11th March. This event was open to the public, and those attending were be treated to the first live performance of her newly released single, Heading in the Right Direction, a Renee Geyer classic from the 70s.

Rebekah was thrilled about the launch, saying "It is my dream to hear my songs being played. Since Australian Idol finished, people have been coming up to me and asking me when I would release a record. But I wanted to take my time and do it properly. It was really important to me to record my own songs in the way I intended them to sound when I wrote them", she said.

Chapter 1 is true to the acoustic R&B style that Rebekah established in Australian Idol. The EP also features a song from the hit album "beat box boy" Joel Turner and the Modern Day Poets. Rebekah wrote the track Behind Bars with "beat box boy" Joel.

While Rebekah's extraordinary talent shot her to fame as a finalist in the first Australian Idol series in 2003, her musical career stretches back to her early teens. Rebekah left home to join New Zealand Gospel group Iron and Clay, she then toured Asia as a backing singer for popular band Swoop prior to settling in Sydney.

Rebekah is also an accomplished actor, recently starring as the lead in a brilliant short film entitled Aliya. Aliya, an AFTRS production, is directed by award winning Rebecca Parker and is proving to be a success at film festivals around the globe.

This talented singer has experienced some difficult times in the lead up to her newfound success. Rebekah was adopted by missionaries in Papua New Guinea, where she lived until the age of 10 before moving to New Zealand. She is a proudly independent single mum of two children, Filipo and Terrence and spent the year prior to her Australian Idol success living in a women's refuge.

Rebekah is the latest talent recruit of Denny Burgess Management. Her EP will be out on Regal Records through MGM.
