In a society where unwanted teens are salvaged for their body parts, three runaways fight the system that would 'unwind' them.
Connor's parents want to be rid of him because he's a troublemaker. Risa has no parents and is being unwound to cut orphanage costs. Lev's unwinding has been planned since his birth, as part of his family's strict religion. Bought together by chance and kept together by desperation, these three unlikely companions make a harrowing cross-country journey, knowing their lives hang in the balance. If they can survive until their 18th birthday, they can't be harmed- but when every piece of them, from their hands to their hearts, is wanted by a world gone mad, 18 seems far, far away.
In Unwind, Shusterman challenges readers' ideas about life... not just where life begins and where it ends, but what it truly means to be alive.
Neal Shusterman grew up in New York and now lives in Southern California with his family who he says are a constant source of inspiration. He began writing at an early age and it was only a year after graduating from university that he was offered his first book deal and hired to write a movie script.
Since then, Neal has made his mark as a successful novelist, screen writer and television writer. He is currently adapting Everlost into a feature film for Universal Studios and is also working on a TV movie for the Disney Channel. Unwind is Neal's latest book.
