Sophie McKenzie was born and brought up in London, where she still lives with her son. She has worked as a journalist and an editor and goes boxing training in her spare time. Her debut novel Girl, Missing was winner of the Richard and Judy Best Kids' Books 2007 12+ Fluent category, The Red House Book Award 2007 for Older Readers and the Bolton Book Award 2007.
