Brittany Cairns Behind The Scenes Interview

Sydney based singer/songwriter Brittany Cairns has added the finishing touches to the music video for new single -Behind The Scenes', unveiling the gorgeous narrative for fans on youtube.

Filmed at Marquee at Star, the music video is a stunning backdrop for a song that is one part fun, catchy and happy and one part knowing nod towards the backstory of reality television. The track was co-written and produced by Rob Conley who has worked with Australian artists including; Savage Garden, Darren Hayes and Tina Arena.

Brittany Cairns first claimed public attention via The Voice 2012, with Keith Urban stating, 'It's smoky and smouldering and soulful and not the voice you get out of a 19 year old … the world is yours Brittany".

The talented artist has been working with some of the best in the business, including leading songwriters and producers Johnny Severin (Red One) and Lindsey Ray. Having performed his song on The Voice, a chance meeting with Different Worlds writer and producer, Steven Stern whilst in Los Angeles has resulted in track that is slated for release later in the year.

Interview with Brittany Cairns

Question: Tell us about the music video for Behind The Scenes?

Brittany Cairns: It was so much fun and I think our team was running out of time because we were having so much fun and laughing. It was the best day; my entire team was so beautiful including my hair and make-up crew.

It was a self-explanatory idea with the song and we just wanted to make the clip fun and light-hearted.

Question: Why did you choose to film it at Marquee at Star?

Brittany Cairns: We know a few of the guys that run Marquee at Star and they were beautiful enough to help us because we love and support the place. It was a great venue to shoot because the place and the scenery are beautiful; it's not every day that you get to shoot with the Sydney Harbour Bridge in the background, outside the window. It's such a great spot.

Question: What do you enjoy most about using Instagram and other social media sites to interact with your fans?

Brittany Cairns: I love showing my fans the everyday me as the on-stage Brittany is different and I like showing them the everyday Brittany including my fashion styles and what I feel like wearing when I go out, daily. I also show my friends, who I hang out with and what I do on a daily basis – I love that my fans are a part of that side of things. I love including my followers such as asking them which pair of shoes I should wear.

Question: Tell us about your boyfriend; where did you meet Stan Walker?

Brittany Cairns: I met Stan Walker at a mutual friends 21st birthday in February and it was very out of the blue but I'm very, very happy about it. It's easier because we both understand that at times we'll be away and our career can be here, there and everywhere but it's good because we can support each other and we know how to support each other even when we are halfway across the world.

Question: Did you have any pre-conceived ideas about the music industry?

Brittany Cairns: That's a good question! Not really and I guess you never really know what it's like until you're in it and you can have all these ideas about what you think it will be like but you never really know until you're a part of the music industry. I was prepared a little but you have to learn very quickly!

Question: What is the biggest challenge you have faced along the way to your musical success?

Brittany Cairns: Wow! I face a lot of little challenges, daily but you learn to adapt to challenges and go about it in a different way to get around the challenge. There are lots of little things that don't go ahead such as a gig could be cancelled the day before and everything changes. The industry is very up and down but I have learnt to adapt to it, very quickly. You need to be a faster learner.

Question: What inspires your fashion and beauty decisions?
Brittany Cairns: I follow a lot of fashion on Instagram and I see a lot of brands and their photos and I'll see what I have in my wardrobe that is similar and work with that item to mix and match an outfit. I mix and match brands a lot and Instagram has really helped with my fashion and beauty inspirations.

Question: What message would you like your music to say to your fans?

Brittany Cairns: Every song sends a different message but going into this I always wanted to be genuine and I want my fans to know that each song is a part of me and it is genuine. I will never sell my fans anything that is fake and that is something that is very important to me as an artist and I set that in stone, long ago. Genuine is a foundation for me, I am real and I hope to be relatable because I think that's very important in my music.

Question: What's next for you?

Brittany Cairns: I have a single that I am releasing in May and then I have the EP that will be set to release in June and I am amping up to that, after that I'll do it all over again!
