This long-running TV Series is based on the stories and illustrations of acclaimed children’s author Dick Bruna, one of the most famous creators of children's picture books in the world. Born in the Dutch city of Utrecht in 1927 he has written and illustrated over 100 books. His works have been translated into 40 languages, including two in Braille, and have sold more than 80 million copies worldwide!

Dick is renowned for his charity work, contributing to such causes as UNICEF, the disabled, the Red Cross as well as animal protection and the environment.

Miffy is Dick Bruna's most famous character. The first book "Miffy" appeared in 1955 closely followed by "Miffy at the Zoo" !

She looked very different then - more like a rag doll bunny - but in the second editions published in 1963, she began to look far more like the Miffy we know and love today.

On June 21, 2008 Miffy actually turned 53 years old! But in her books she stays forever young!
