Directed by Golden Globe® winning Michael Mann (Best Motion Picture – The Aviator, Public Enemies) and starring Australian heavyweight Chris Hemsworth (Thor, The Avengers), Blackhat is a fast paced, cyber-action film set in some of the most tech-savvy cities in the world.
Nick Hathaway (Hemsworth), a talented computer expert who has gone astray, finds his way out of a 15 year prison sentence when parts of a computer code he wrote in college appear in malware that triggered a nuclear attack in Hong Kong.
Enticed by the opportunity to clear his name, he agrees to reunite with his old roommate turned FBI Officer, Chen Dawait (Leehom Wang) and his sister Chen Lien (Wei Tang). The trio embarks on a transcontinental pursuit from Chicago to Los Angeles, Hong Kong and Jakarta to uncover a global, high-level cybercrime network.
As the team hunts down the arch villain cyber hacker, they soon become the hunted as Hathaway and his team find themselves in the middle of a power game between the American and Chinese Governments. With his freedom and his life in the hands of a faceless hacker, can he crack the code before he's sent back to prison to serve the remainder of his sentence?
