Preventing and Treating Acne

Acne is an inflammation of the skin follicles affecting 8 out of 10 teenagers and young adults. Adolescent skin, like the rest of their bodies, is undergoing some major changes as it matures. This can often lead to the right conditions for acne to develop. Once established, the inflammatory process is notoriously difficult to control.

Every teenager has and will continue to experience pimples, there are measures you can take to help aid clean skin and avoid pimples:
  • Drink plenty of water; this will help clean any bad toxins from your body.
  • Avoid excess chocolate, lollies or oily foods.
  • Exercise regularly, sweating will help clean out your pores.
  • Wash your face twice daily as well as after exercise.
  • If when you are washing your face, your face stings, stop and purchase a new product- don't use products that are too harsh or irritate your face.
  • Always take off your make up before exercising and prior to sleeping.
  • Avoid touching your face unnecessarily.
  • If you wear glasses or sunglasses, clean them regularly to remove any dirt.
  • Pull your hair out of your face, if you have oily hair, this oil will move to the face.
  • If you know you already have oily skin, choose oil-free sunscreen, makeup and moisturisers.

    Sam Clark Interview

Sam Clark is a teen heart throb and is known for playing Ringo Brown on Neighbours. Sam Clark loves 'Teen Clean' by Jan Marini Skin Research. Sam thanks their products for balancing his acne prone skin. Sam explains,"I've tried many different products to try to control my problem skin and thought it was as clear as it could get. But after using Teen Clean for only a few weeks I had no pimples at all for the first time in years! Finally my skin is manageable again."

Have you always had skin problems?

Sam Clark: Not as a child but all though high school and up until I started using Jan Marini.

What advice do you have for teenage girls who have skin problems?

Sam Clark: Eat healthy, exercise and take care of your skin. Remember that it's just a stage that almost everyone goes through!

What attracted you to Teen Clean?

Sam Clark: Our lovely make-up artists at work recommended it to me.

Tell us about your daily skin routine?

Sam Clark: Cleanse morning and night with Teen Clean Cleanser, followed by leave on Benzoyl Peroxide lotion. Morning only also follow with Antioxidant Daily Face Protectant.

How did you overcome the feelings associated with skin breakouts?

Sam Clark: It was hard, but I had great encouragement from my family and friends who taught me how not to be so self conscious, to see beyond the skin I am in so to speak.

You're a musician also, how do you find time to practice whilst being on Neighbours?

Sam Clark: Juggling both is certainly not easy but I know if I want to make it as a musician then I have to pay my dues. I try to fit in as much practice as possible. I even keep my old guitar on set so I can play if I have time.
