Ere Perez Director of Natural Cosmetics Company ERE PEREZ

FOUNDER AND DIRECTOR, ERE PEREZ NATURAL COSMETICS

Ere Perez was born in Mexico in 1974 and arrived in Australia in February 1999, following her dream to start a new life somewhere challenging and beautiful.

With a family heritage in natural therapies and chemical biology (her mum’s father is still a medicine man at nearly 90, and her dad’s parents are both chemical biologists), Ere Perez has always had an interest in natural remedies, skin care and research. She studied nutrition for six years in Mexico and combined her training in nutrition with other natural therapies, including acupuncture, Bach flowers, iridology, herbal remedies and aromatherapy.

With her increasing knowledge, enthusiasm and support from her grandfather, Perez set about researching different formulas with an aim to manufacture herbal products with healing properties for different health conditions.

She credits her family with her success: "I couldn’t have done it without the support of all my friends and family, says Ere Perez. My family taught me everything I need to know about natural remedies, research, happiness, respect for others and a positive attitude to life. We try to carry this through in our day to day business".

In Australia, she noticed a trend towards natural products and women looking for a healthier alternative in make-up, Ere combined her love for cosmetics with her passion in natural remedies and set about creating the beginnings of her own natural cosmetic range, starting with her beautiful Almond Oil Mascara, which was launched in 2004.

Perez’s biggest challenge was to find retailers and for the first year, she ran around various cities on high heels with a bag full of mascaras, looking for sales! "I knew it wasn’t going to be easy, says Perez, especially when you decide to start your business by knocking on doors!"

Her persistence paid off and in a year she had 150 retailers. With this success she added a small range of natural products to her original mascara and has been selling this

collection since November 2006. She and her husband have run the company together since then.

"I love make-up, says ErePerez, but could never find what I wanted and I knew the long term usage had no benefit for me. I wanted to create a make-up range that allows the skin to breathe and shows off a woman’s natural beauty, rather than hides it".

"The Ere Perez range concept is about providing a fast, easy to apply, nourishing make- up solution that can be used by anyone, without any particular application skills! The basic three-step routine is fool-proof and the pigments we use are so light, it’s pretty impossible to make a mistake!"

Ere Perez believes the beauty industry has come a long way in the last few years and many manufacturers are consciously trying to minimise the use of harsh chemicals.

"My business aligns with consumers who are already focused on using the best natural products available, she says. As an Australian-owned company, we pride ourselves in supplying healthy natural make-up to suit every skin type. We carefully select our ingredients, such as oils and plant extracts, which we blend with antioxidants to create a gentle and highly effective natural make-up solution that not only looks gorgeous, but also protects and nourishes the skin".

Our company is built on a respect and love for our bodies, our environment and our fellow human beings. We are totally ethical in our manufacturing process; do as much as possible to care for the environment and our products are not tested on animals.

Perez’s business ethic is built around respect and relationships. The company does not use distributors in Australia, but prefers to work directly with clients (health food shops and pharmacies, salons, beauticians, spas, etc).

"We have a much closer contact with our clients this way and are able to offer them a personalised service that’s right for their business size. Our product display stand is small and compact, and so gives small businesses the opportunity to stock a cosmetic range without a big investment".

Ere Perez Natural Cosmetics currently has over 700 retailers Australia wide and is already distributed in Singapore and Dubai and Ere Perez products will soon be available in Japan and The Philippines, with much more growth planned for 2008.

Ere Perez lives in Tamarama, Sydney with her husband and business partner, Juan Perez.
