Hello Savvy Fashion Followers!

Pure As White
As summer approaches white is the new black! White looks great with denim, whether it's a light blue denim or gelato coloured denim. Team your white outfit with denim accessories from handbags and shoes to belts. Leather accessories like earrings, cuffs and belts also compliment this new look.

Sheer Delights
Kaftans in chiffon will return, in patterns and soft beadings for this summer. Asymmetrical pieces in colours like bright fuchsia and natural tones are pretty and feminine for the party season!

Peasant
Incorporates exotic patterns, folkloric peasant tops and skirts and ruffles. The best accessories in this style are charm bracelets, woven or tooled leather belts, crotchet or crafted detail on earrings and bangles or earrings with turquoise stones.

Bohemian Princess
This look is the hippy chic of the 21st century combining paisley prints, smock shirts and anglaise embroidery on shirts and skirts. Try accessories like fringed belts in brown, black or beige suede, crystal earrings, psychedelic prints on bangles, fringed handbags and leather thongs.

Swimwear 02/03
Swimwear takes on a new approach this summer as it is becoming more versatile. Mix and match bikinis in bold vibrant colours and take advantage of patterns, which are very popular. Fantastic for those who like to mix their two-piece bikini with others to create a different look, for each day on the beach!

The one-piece bathing suit has been given a dynamic edge, with cut out panels exposing more skin and making swimwear sexier than ever! These one-piece suits are available in white, aqua and red.

Tankinis (singlet top with bikini bottom) are also quite versatile - check out the reversible styles in funky colours and prints.

Make sure you have the perfect pair of sunglasses to compliment your face shape and hair colour. There are many styles available; the most fashionable are the "rimless" lenses, available in various tints and colours.

Remember while it is fun to look good, it is always important to wear the right sunscreen protection whilst being exposed to UV rays. Make sure you reapply your SPF 15+ sunscreen every 2-4 hours!

Look forward to Autumn/Winter 03
Peering inside the crystal ball, on the fashion front for Autumn/Winter 03 is the "Russian Princess" look, which in essence includes colours of pureness, like white and beige with fur trims (fake of course!) to be seen everywhere.

We can also look forward to a more romantic style: Edwardian dresses that are tattered and frayed. It is vintage spirit, with a modern twist.

FASHION DISASTERS OF THE MONTH!

Got a fashion dilemma? Can't decide which outfit to wear with those trendy shoes you bought? Well never fear because I am here to attend to all your fashion blues!

Dear Belinda,

I have my own individual style, I like baggy denim jeans, with cool t-shirts and boob tubes, but I always get told that they aren't in fashion by one of my friends. It's getting really annoying, I am Chinese and have a Hong Kong style, and the look I have is very "in" over there. Should I change or should I be what I want to be?

Signed Miss Individuality.

Dear Miss Individuality,

I think you answered this one for yourself. You are individual and you shouldn't have to change just because someone doesn't like your style.

It's good to keep up with the fashion, though sometimes not everything suits everyone. That's when it is ideal to have your very own unique style! You are who you are so do not change because someone tells you to. If baggy denim looks good on you - then go for it girl! Just wear it! ;)

If you want to experiment with your look wear your jeans with white trainers and add a baseball cap. Baseball caps are going to be very popular! Why not wear a polo top in pastel colours like baby pink, blue and yellow. Gelato colours are the colour for summer this year.

Add some accessories like funky earrings and a sporty handbag by Puma or Converse.

Perhaps also tell your "friends" that the Hong Kong fashion scene follows fashion from Milan and Paris - the two major fashion capitals in the world!

Dear Belinda,

I have a fashion dilemma, I have the nicest clothes but some don't fit me. Also, a lot of my friends are really skinny and pretty. I am a lot bigger than what they are and I always seem to be the odd one out. They swap clothes with each other and I can't swap clothes with them. What should I do with the clothes I have, but can't fit into?

Signed Squeezed Out!

Dear Squeezed Out,

You shouldn't be so hard on yourself. Everyone is special and beautiful in their own way. Just because you're not the same size as your friends it shouldn't stop you from sharing accessories like jewellery, bags and belts.

I think you should start to be more self-confident. Every person is different but unfortunately the fashion industry dictates that the female body should be a certain size, when in reality this is an unhealthy approach.

If you are feeling you would like to gain more confidence in yourself and stay healthy, you should speak to your family for support or your local GP.

What I would suggest for your favourite items of clothing is to keep them because fashion always comes in cycles.

Well now it's Ciao from me, stay tuned next month for more fashion tips and hot looks and of course YOUR fashion disasters!
