Josh Thomas Please Like Me

Young comedian to give insight on how to do life

It just 19, Brisbane comedian Josh Thomas is young, free, single and extremely vulnerable. ‘Virginal looks’ aren’t the best thing to be known for either. For these reasons he is normally a perfect target for unwanted attention. Next week, he wants all the attention he can get, when he opens his stand up show Please Like Me in the 2007 Melbourne Comedy Festival at the Melbourne Town Hall.

Josh is inviting everyone to come and judge his talent, as he puts his vulnerable self on the line. Warming up to the whole ‘solo show’ idea, Josh has been hard at work trialling his show at Brisbane’s Sit Down Comedy Club and Perth’s Wild West Comedy Festival. He has had audiences in giggling fits there and is now looking forward to unleashing his humour on Melbourne.

If you want to see something new in comedy this year, see Please Like Me and learn in detail what Josh has discovered after spending 19 years learning how to do life. He even reveals the fine points of all his awkward experiences with the ladies, his parents’ divorce and his friendship with Harry Potter.

"The show will be splendid," says Thomas. "I'm a little worried though, cause my mum is coming. Hopefully she won't sit near any light so I won't be able to see the disappointment in her face."

Josh was just 17 when he triumphed at the 2005 Melbourne Comedy Festival’s Raw Comedy Competition, the youngest winner ever. After performing on Comedy Channel in Stand Up Australia and appearing in the prestigious Comedy Zone in 2006, his unique talent did not go unnoticed. His unique, awkward character and his cutting dialect have seen him support the likes of Dave Hughes and be heard frequently on Triple J.
