Dear Doc,
My boyfriend and I were having sex the other day when he told me there was a soft lump on the back wall of my vagina. I was just wondering what you thought it might be? It doesn't hurt or anything but I am still a little worried. I'm 17 and am embarrassed to go to the doctor about it, even though I know I should.
Signed Worried
Dear Worried,
I'm afraid it is too difficult to guess at what it could be without seeing it – so you are right – you should go and see your doctor about it. I can understand your embarrassment – but think about the relief of knowing what it is, and know that your doctor will have done similar examinations many times before. It may help to have a female doctor.
