Mandy Kane

Mandy Kane Australian singer/songwriter/producer Mandy Kane released his third single "Stupid Friday" this month and is currently touring.

Following the Top 20 success of his first two singles, "Stab" (which debuted at No. 18 nationally) and "Billy Bones" and two triumphant tours supporting Marilyn Manson and Machine Gun Fellatio, Mandy is enjoying increasing popularity and has earned the respect and admiration of his peers.

He impressed A-listers at the Australian Premiere of "The Matrix Revolutions" with a mesmerising show, and he is featured on the soundtrack of the upcoming Australian film, "One Perfect Day".

"Stupid Friday" is a sweetly melodic acoustic song which showcases Mandy’s diversity as a singer and songwriter. Also recorded and produced by Mandy, the track will feature on his upcoming debut album, "Tragic Daydreams" scheduled for release in April.

  1. How did it feel to hear your song played all over the airwaves?
    Surreal. After working on them for so long, it was great to hear them being played on the radio.

  2. Did you have any pre-conceived ideas about the music industry?
    I didn't necessarily have any pre-conceived ideas about it. All I knew was that I wanted to be a part of it.

  3. Do you write your own songs? What's your inspiration? Yes I do. I'm inspired by all the weird and wonderful people of the world and my own experiences.

  4. What music/artists do you listen to when you are not playing your own?
    David Bowie, Placebo, Peaches, Flaming Lips and lots more. I also love film soundtracks, mainly for the original scores.

  5. What's next? Tour/Album/Single?
    I'm in the middle of a tour right now, promoting my new single "Stupid Friday" which hits the stores on March 1. Then my album "Tragic Daydreams" comes out on April 5. Meanwhile, I'm working on material for my next album ....

  6. Was there a moment you contemplated throwing in the towel?
    I've had plentyof those moments along the way, but I've always perservered .... perseverance is the key.

  7. Do you prefer performing live or recording?
    I prefer the control that I have when I'm recording, but performing live is great because very show is like a big party.

  8. What/who was your inspiration to go into the music industry?
    I've always loved the idea of creating a fantasy world - inspired by films and music - and rock & roll is the ultimate fantasy, I guess!When I was about 9 years old, I was taken to my first rock concert, which was INXS, so I would have to say that Michael Hutchence was my inspiration to pursue music as a career.

  9. What is the biggest challenge you have faced along the way to your musical success?
    There have been plenty of challenges! It's sometimes been difficult to be accepted, because I tend to go about things differently - particularly compared with a lot of Australian acts.

  10. What's a typical day like?
    I'll give you a typical tour day ..... it entails getting up (preferably late), rolling out of bed, doing a few interviews, conducting sound check, meeting interesting people, then it's on stage - ready for another party! It's a tough life ....

  11. What has been your favorite part of becoming a music artist?
    Being able to actually live out the fantasy .... to create it and be a part of it, both through the performance and my music.

  12. If you could collaborate with another artist, who would it be?
    It would have to Peaches - a Peaches/MK collaboration is bound to cause trouble!

  13. Are you single? What do you look for in a partner?
    Yes (well, sometimes). And I would hate to put limitations on people by looking for something in particular in them.

    The most important thing is to be happy with yourself - no matter who you are or what you do.
