Dear Dr Kate,
Hi I'm 17 and I started having sex when I was 15. It sounds bad and I have not been able to orgasm and it is really starting to annoy me. I have a boyfriend and he knows but I really do not know what to do?
Signed Orgasm-less
Dear Orgasm–less,
There are lots of reasons as to why women don't have orgasms, but I'll start with some basics in anatomy! Some women are unable to orgasm by having intercourse alone. This is because the erogenous zone in the women (analogous to the tip of the penis in males) – is the clitoris, which is located just up from the vagina. Some women need to have clitoral stimulation (with or without intercourse) in order to orgasm. There are lots of other reasons as to why you may not be able to and chatting with a doc who you feel comfortable with, face to face, is the best way to get to the bottom of it!
