Sydney swimwear label, We Are Handsome, has triumphed over finalists Rachel Gilbert and Ellery after being announced as the winners of the 2011 DHL Express Fashion Export Scholarship.

In its second year, the Scholarship aims to identify Australia's emerging fashion talent and assist them in achieving international business growth.

The dynamic design duo behind the fashion label, Indhra Chagoury and Jeremy Somers, are the new talents of Australian swimwear. With a cult following already firmly in place, their vibrant and bold designs have been seen adorning the bikini bodies of world famous celebrities including Rihanna, Jessica Biel, Florence Welch, Cameron Diaz and Miranda Kerr.

'We're so excited and thankful to win the scholarship. Our business is expanding and the invaluable mentoring and freight expertise from DHL will certainly provide a boost to our international growth," said Jeremy Somers.

Judged by three of Australia's top fashion and exporting industry leaders – Jamila Dlala, Global Multi-National Customer Manager from DHL; Lucia Labbate from IMG Fashion; and Australian fashion designer Nicola Finetti – the entries were assessed across a variety of categories, including: design, marketing, business and export.

'We were incredibly impressed by We Are Handsome. Their designs are quintessentially Australian with a distinct point of difference, while their strong business practices will see them become influential Australian fashion ambassadors in international markets," said Jamila Dlala, Global Multi-National Customer Manager from DHL Express Australia.

'The DHL Fashion Export Scholarship aims to recognise, support and reward emerging talent in this industry and we're excited to work with We Are Handsome. The Scholarship presents an invaluable opportunity for tailored export services, industry-specific intelligence and mentoring at just the right time to help grow and build their business internationally," concluded Ms Dlala.

We Are Handsome will receive a tailored export mentoring program and international freight to the value of $10,000 from DHL Express.
